Santander - £180 Switch Bonus

Overview

Santander is offering £180 to new current account customers who switch via the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), transfer two household direct debits and pay in £1,500 within 60 days.

The offer started on 1 April 2026 and runs until Santander withdraws it (no fixed end date). Santander reserves the right to withdraw, alter or replace it at any time without notice.

How to Claim

1. Click the 'Get This Offer' button and apply for an Everyday, Edge, Edge Up, Edge Explorer or Private (v2) current account
2. Submit a switch request and start a full CASS switch that closes your old account
3. Within 60 days of submitting your switch request:
   • Complete the full switch (closing your external account)
   • Pay in at least £1,500 (across one or more payments)
   • Have at least 2 active Household Direct Debits in place
4. Continue to hold the account with 2 active Household DDs on the day Santander pays the £180
5. Santander check eligibility 60 days after the switch is instructed; £180 paid within 30 days of that decision (~90 days total)

Requirements

• UK resident
• Must NOT have held a current account with Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen on 1 January 2025
• Must NOT have previously received any Santander switching incentive (and neither must any joint account holder on the new account)
• Must NOT switch from a Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen account
• Full CASS switch closing the old account within 60 days
• 2 active Household Direct Debits at the point of eligibility assessment AND on the day the bonus pays out
• £1,500 paid in within 60 days (one or more payments)

What counts as a 'Household Direct Debit'

Per Santander's exact definition, only DDs paying for these qualify:

• Council tax
• Mobile phone
• Home phone
• Broadband
• Paid-for TV packages (Netflix-only payments by DD don't count)
• Water, gas and electricity bills

Direct Debits to fund a Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen savings account do NOT count.

Important Notes

• Edge accounts charge a monthly fee (£3 for Edge, more for Edge Up) — weigh against the cashback benefit
• Joint account: only one £180 paid per account regardless of how many holders
• Santander reserves the right not to pay if they suspect the offer is being abused
• If Santander withdraws the offer after you've submitted your switch request, you remain eligible provided you still meet the criteria
