Overview
ev.energy Charge & Earn pays EV drivers in Great Britain a share of the money the grid pays for flexible charging. Connect your car or home charger to the free ev.energy app, let it smart-charge overnight, and every eligible session earns you a slice of that month's pool — paid monthly by PayPal.
ev.energy's own illustrative 2026 figures put typical earnings at roughly £12–£21 a month for about three charges a week (August 2026 paid £1.63 per charge). It's free to join, with nothing to buy and no subscription.
How to Claim
- Click 'Get This Offer' and check your car or charger is on the compatibility list.
- Download the ev.energy app and connect your EV or home charger.
- Add your energy tariff and smart meter details.
- Plug in at home and let the app manage charging — don't use manual Boost.
- Earnings for each month are paid to your PayPal account up to two months later (e.g. August charges paid by the end of October).
Requirements
- Great Britain, home charging only — public and workplace charging don't count.
- A supported EV or home charger (Tesla, BMW, VW, Easee, Wallbox and more).
- A working smart meter (half-hourly settlement not needed).
- Any supplier, except tariffs where the supplier controls your charging: Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Intelligent Drive Pack, OVO Charge Anytime, E.ON Next Drive Smart, ScottishPower EV Optimise and British Gas Free Charge.
- Not enrolled in another flexibility or smart-charging rewards scheme.
Important Terms
- An eligible charge is a smart-managed session of 7 kWh or more, up to one per day (max 31 a month).
- Earnings are variable — the monthly pool depends on grid market prices and is split across every eligible charge from all drivers.
- Payouts are by PayPal only.
Tips
- If you're on a cheap EV tariff that lets the supplier control charging (e.g. Intelligent Octopus Go), compare the savings before switching — ev.energy can't be used alongside those.
- Overnight charging of 7 kWh+ a few times a week is the sweet spot.
