Overview
Axle Energy is a UK virtual power plant (VPP) operator that pays home battery owners for exporting stored energy when the grid is under stress. Connect a compatible battery through the link on this page and you earn £1 per kWh exported during Axle's scheduled grid events, with a guaranteed minimum of £10 a month while you're connected.
How to Claim
- Click the 'Get This Offer' button to open the Axle Energy sign-up page.
- Upload a recent energy bill (Axle reads your meter references from it) and connect your battery's cloud account via the guided API-key steps — about 5 minutes.
- Axle bids your battery into the day-ahead market and schedules export events, typically around an hour long and roughly four times a month, with about 20 hours' notice.
- Earnings accrue in your Axle account; withdraw to your bank once you have £10 or more.
Requirements
- A compatible home battery — currently Sigenergy, FOX ESS, GivEnergy, SolaX, Solis and SolarEdge systems, with more brands being added
- A UK smart meter (verified during sign-up)
- Works with any energy supplier, tariff or Feed-in Tariff arrangement, and alongside Home Assistant or third-party scheduling
Important Terms
- No contract — opt out at any time and skip any individual event in the app
- The service is in beta, so rates and the £10 minimum can change; most users save on their bill but Axle doesn't guarantee it
- Payments are by bank transfer with a £10 minimum withdrawal
- Works alongside existing export payments such as the Smart Export Guarantee
- Axle operates within your battery manufacturer's specifications, so your warranty is unaffected
Tips
- Events run automatically in the background — once connected there's nothing to do
- Grid events can coincide with your supplier's own saving sessions, letting you earn from both at once
- Check your battery brand is on the compatibility list before you start
