IG Investments - Free Share Worth £50–£1,000 for Investing £1,000

Overview

IG is one of the UK's largest investment platforms, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. New customers who open an account through the 'Get This Offer' button, invest at least £1,000 within 30 days and stay invested for 3 months receive a free US share worth between £50 and £1,000.

The share is randomly allocated from a list of 25 US companies (including Apple, Amazon, NVIDIA, Disney and Coca-Cola). Most people receive a share at the lower end of the range, so treat this as a likely £50–£70 bonus rather than the headline figure.

If you'd rather not tie up £1,000, Trading 212 and Freetrade give a free share for a much smaller deposit.

How to Claim

1. Click the link on this page to open an IG account — choose a Share Dealing account (GIA), Stocks and Shares ISA or SIPP (Smart Portfolios don't count)
2. Open the account within 3 months of clicking the 'Get This Offer' button, and don't enter any promo code
3. Deposit and place a first investment of at least £1,000 within 30 days of the account being opened
4. Keep an average of at least £1,000 invested for the 3-month holding period that starts on the day of that first investment
5. Complete the W-8BEN form in your IG account before the holding period ends (it's a short US tax form needed to hold US shares)
6. Your free share is credited to your IG General Investment Account by the end of the calendar month after the holding period finishes

Important Terms

• Capital is at risk — you are investing £1,000 for at least 3 months and the value can fall as well as rise
• A fall below £1,000 caused purely by market movement does not disqualify you; withdrawing money or selling down does
• The free share is paid into a General Investment Account even if you invested through an ISA or SIPP — IG opens one alongside if needed
• If the W-8BEN form isn't submitted before the end of the holding period IG can withhold the share
• Cannot be combined with any other IG promotion or promo code — entering a code at sign-up puts you on a different offer with different conditions
• Each person can only receive one free share under this scheme
• Once credited, the share is yours to keep or sell like any other holding

Tips

• Put the £1,000 into a low-volatility fund or ETF (for example a short-dated bond or money-market ETF) so market movement is minimal during the 3 months
• Set a reminder for the W-8BEN — it takes 2 minutes in the app and forgetting it is the easiest way to lose the reward
• Keep a small cash buffer above £1,000 so a normal dip doesn't take your average invested value below the threshold
• After the share lands you can withdraw your £1,000 and sell the share to your bank account
